This testimony from Sir David Gill as to Mr Jeffries' recent work at the Cape Observatory from 1903 to the present time is of special value, and I have no hesitation in joining Sir David Gill in recommending the appointment of Mr C.W.Jeffries for the post of First Assistant at the Hong Kong Observatory now held by Mr Figg ·
